Shayla Turcotte: wrestler turned body-builder
It is believed that wrestling existed in all the early civilizations and it started as a sport in ancient Greece and was included in the Olympic games of 704 B.C.
Shayla Turcotte is a solo wrestler, and a sponsored national level physique competitor. She comes from an athletic family. Turcotte graduated from Simon Fraser University and represented the university in wrestling. She participated in the Beijing Olympics in 2008. She competed in freestyle wrestling and not only wrestled, but also excelled and ranked at the top in the world class level.
In 2011, Shayla moved to her hometown of Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada to switch careers to pursue studies in nursing. She loves to attend the gym and did it regularly. There her journey switched paths and she started competing in bodybuilding competition.
The year 2013 was her first year of competition in bodybuilding. She attended the competition in her hometown of Kelowna and she did not do well although the judges thought her body was well-suited for the sport. She enjoyed the challenges and continued to improve her physique. Later, she won third place and qualified for the Nationals where she again won third place. Shayla continues her fighting and trains in mixed martial arts.
